3D Art One Moroccan Orbs
This lesson was from a fellow Art Teacher. Students made three ceramic orbs the size of grapefruits. They were to use both additive and subtractive clay techniques. The orbs were to all look different and show interesting textures. Student first drew and colored their orb designs in sketchbook and once approved created them with clay. The design was to be approached as "wallpaper" format as apposed to a "scene". To make the orbs into a maraca, students inserted clay bits wrapped in paper towel before closing the sphere. Student painted the orbs with acrylic paint after they were bisque-fired. Students layered paint and applied "antiquing" techniques to showcase the textures they created on the orbs before they were fired.
