Diverse Hands

For this project you will be showing your diversity with color, writing, and positioning of hands. You will draw your hands from a gridded picture.  You will then shade with ink pen and color with watercolors.  You will show detail, show the direction of light, reflection, and the shadow caused by your hands.

Text Self Portrait of: Diversity Means….

Students will design a text self portrait that describes Diversity.  You should form their own unique definition of what Diversity means to them is a personal way.  Examples:  How are you Diverse?, How does diversity effect your life?  Design can include color and should include a small version of the your logo.  You should use the basic elements to explore the dynamics of form and space.  You should create a unique creative design that fits in to the dimensions and stands out to the viewer.  You should use size and color to show importance to the different parts and dimensions to the face.

3D Art One Moroccan Orbs

This lesson was from a fellow Art Teacher. Students made three ceramic orbs the size of grapefruits. They were to use both additive and subtractive clay techniques. The orbs were to all look different and show interesting textures. Student first drew and colored their orb designs in sketchbook and once approved created them with clay. The design was to be approached as "wallpaper" format as apposed to a "scene". To make the orbs into a maraca, students inserted clay bits wrapped in paper towel before closing the sphere. Student painted the orbs with acrylic paint after they were bisque-fired. Students layered paint and applied "antiquing" techniques to showcase the textures they created on the orbs before they were fired.

Chalk Sidewalk Art

Yesterday students learned about mythical monsters from across time and around the world. They then watched a video on a CBS featured artist that makes 3D chalk sidewalk art. They worked in groups to sketch and color a design. They were required to show some kind of 3D element: foreshorting, perspective, shading depth shadows, and highlights. Students did great and had fun!
